Click to View and Print PDFEnergy-efficiency programs are making a difference. The U.S. Department of Energy says that electric company demand-side management programs helped to save nearly 860 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity between 1989 and 2006.1

That’s enough electricity to power more than 76 million homes for one year! And, this savings is equal to the annual electricity output of almost 110 baseload power plants (rated at 800 megawatts each and operating at a 90-percent capacity factor).
