More People Means More Power

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates nearly 304 million people now live in the United States, with one baby being born every 7 seconds.1

It is projected that the total U.S. population will grow more than 20 percent by 2030. Our economy is expected to remain strong too, with the GDP growing at an average annual rate of 2.4 percent during this time.2

Overall, the Energy Information Administration expects that national electricity consumption will grow by at least 30 percent by 2030.
Electricity Demand Will Grow Nationwide

Like population growth, electricity demand will grow faster in some regions than others.

Our national electricity growth follows what is happening around the world. Future electricity consumption is Worldwide Electricity Demand Growthexpected to be particularly strong in developing countries like China and India.
