Could you live without the Internet?
What about a cell phone? Or microwave? Or television and DVD player? Or any of the other electric technologies, appliances, and gadgets that you may have grown to depend on to enhance your daily life?
We live in a digital age, where the average U.S. household today owns at least 23 consumer electronics products.1
With our growing dependence on new electronics, it's no surprise that, despite huge gains in energy efficiency, our nation's demand for electricity has been rising steadily for decades.
Meeting this demand will be a challenge for America’s electric companies. And it will require them to make major investments in energy efficiency, as well as new power plants, and the transmission and distribution systems used to deliver electricity where it’s needed.
